E ancora mercatini in love, monumenti illuminati di rosso, concerti, street band e cooking show.

A majestic villa from the first half of the 18th century

The villa, dating back to the first half of the 18th century, is located in the centre of Calmasino, where it dominates the present-day square.

The L-shaped complex is surrounded by four streets and still occupies, together with its garden, a large part of the urban layout of the village.

The church that for a long time was the centre of religious life in Bardolino

The Church of S. Severo was built between the end of the 11th and the beginning of the 12th century. However, if we consider a document of Berengario dating back to 893, the church was built on the ruins of a pre-existing building, as a probable extension of it. The crypt, with a semi-circular plan, is located at the main apse, at a level slightly below the level of the present presbytery.

The interior walls are decorated with a cycle of frescoes from the 11th and 12th centuries depicting scenes from the Apocalypse, the finding of the True Cross and other paintings, still visible today thanks to restoration and conservation work.

The bell tower retains its original structure but the conical dome is a much later construction.

The church on the Calmasino viewpoint

The present church was built between 1766 and 1774 as an extension of an earlier construction, namely the small church of S. Michele, documented since 1170. Externally, the building has a façade divided into three parts: a central nave and two narrow side wings. In the centre there is the entrance portal. Internally, the nave is covered by two ribbed vaults, where paintings of “St. Michael casting out demons” and “St. Michael chaining rebellious angels” are depicted.

Every year the Bardolino Chiaretto DOC, a rosé version of the famous Bardolino obtained from the same grapes, is presented on this occasion. The taste of Chiaretto is fresh and on the palate it gives the flavour of small berries whose fragrance recalls the perfumes.

For the occasion the entire lakeside of Bardolino will be coloured pink: from the wine stands to the lights, the town will turn pink to pay homage to this delicious wine appreciated all over the world.

During the event, the historic centre and lakefront of Bardolino are animated by music and entertainment that accompany the tastings for enthusiasts and the curious.

The theme of the second edition of the festival is “Children of the Earth”. The relationship between man and the earth will be the focus of the five evenings with films in the wonderful setting of Lake Garda, accompanied by book presentations, debates and two competitions.
