Palio on Lake Garda

The appointment, for more than fifty years, has been for the evening of August 15, the day of the Assumption patron saint of Garda, when the nine contrade of the city compete on a 400-meter stretch of water, rowing standing “alla veneta” on characteristic flat gondolas. Festivities for the Palio generally cover the entire week of Ferragosto, alternating rowing races with children’s rowers with women’s crews, folkloric historical re-enactments in costume, gastronomic events and grand finale with fireworks.
