The church of San Zeno de l’Oselet
A romanesque church of San Zeno
The church, built on the ruins of a Roman villa, has very old origins, although the building, which we can now admire in its unmistakable Romanesque form, dates back to the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. It was probably the main church in the area of Brenzone sul Garda, later replaced by the church of San Giovanni Battista at the beginning of the 15th century. The rather bizarre structure of the present building is the result of different construction periods. The pediment in the façade shows only one slope, but in reality, a second one, that of the minor nave, is covered by the massive bell tower. Splendid late-Romanesque frescoes in Byzantine style are found on the walls of the naves and along the rim of the main apse.
