Servasa Archaeological Site

The archaeological site of Emperor Claudius

The Servasa archaeological site is located along the probable Via Claudia Augusta, built by Emperor Claudius in 46 A.D. to complete the route through the Alps opened by his father Drusus with the Reto-Vindelian campaigns. The site excavations have yielded some findings such as spaces used by craftsmen and a forge with a metal furnace. Other rooms were used for residential or reception purposes and in one of them a threshold of pink Verona marble with holes for the door hinges has survived.
