Cavaion Veronese

Cavaion Veronese

Cavaion, from San Michele to Adige

Cavaion Veronese, an enchanting hill town in the Garda-Baldo area, thanks to its strategic location embraces a panorama that stretches from the lake to the Adige River on Monte Baldo, where the town becomes the gateway to Valdadige and Valpolicella. A town of olive oil and Garda DOP, Cavaion offers a panorama of olive groves and vineyards that slope down to Bardolino, featuring the silvery green colour tones of the marvellous olive trees.

What to do in Cavaion

Cavaion is the town where you can enjoy a “slow” holiday, in contact with nature and culture, with some moments of more dynamic activity linked to biking and Nordic walking. The walks along the San Michele, Valsorda and Val del Tasso paths are nature walks of environmental and historical interest, which follow some old tracks, such as the old Verona-Caprino railway. Along the country walk and cycle routes, amidst olive groves and vineyards, you can admire villas and archaeological sites of great significance, such as the small lake of Cà Nove, the Archeoparco della Bastia and the Roman villa. The finds from there can be seen in the significant Museo Civico Archeologico di Cavaion at the Town Hall. The square in front of the Church of San Giovanni Battista, the town’s ‘living room’, is counterpointed by the town hall and the 17th-century Corte Torcolo, the town’s cultural centre. Together with the Torcolo theatre, it offers numerous music, theatre and dance performances in summer, as well as food and wine events linked to local traditions. Don’t miss the refined Garda DOP olive oil and the sweet “fogassa su la gradela de Cavaion”, two gastronomic specialities of Cavaion Veronese.
