Lazise

Lazise, charming landscapes and relaxation on the lakeshore

Lazise boasts a truly interesting record: it was the first free Italian municipality, obtaining its autonomy from Emperor Otto II more than a thousand years ago, in 983. The town’s history spans the Middle Ages, remains of which can still be seen in the castle and the Scaliger walls, and then Venetian domination, which left a very important relic, the marvellous Dogana Veneta. The territory of Lazise comprises a coastal strip along the lakefront and a vast hinterland consisting of moraine hills, olive groves and vineyards dotted with rows of cypress trees. Hotels are located in the historic centre without affecting the traditional structure of the town, while outside there are numerous campsites on the lakefront south of Lazise.

What to do in Lazise

The campsites, equipped with every comfort and suitable for family holidays, are ideal for those who enjoy a holiday in contact with nature. In addition to traditional lake sports, the area offers peaceful walks, bike rides and scenic horse trails with moderate inclines. In addition, the communities of Colà and Pacengo offer a stay on the lake immersed in a rural and agricultural environment, where farm holiday centres offer dairy products.
