Malcesine
Malcesine, timeless charm
For those visiting Malcesine for the first time, its charm is incomparable, and it is the same for those who have already been here. With the prominent Scaliger Castle and the historic Palazzo dei Capitani, this characteristic village retains its old medieval origins and gives the feeling of still living in those times. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe fell in love with these enchanting little streets as early as 1786 when he described Malcesine in his “Italian Journey”. Fashionable shops and modern accommodation ensure an active, avant-garde holiday. Malcesine is rich in contrasts, from the Mediterranean landscapes with olive trees and their delicate extra virgin olive oil, to the alpine landscapes on the peaks of Monte Baldo, for its wealth of flora known also as the “Botanical Garden of Europe”.
What to do in Malcesine
It is possible to reach the top of Monte Baldo in just a few minutes thanks to the innovative cable car ride that offers breathtaking views. The mild and temperate climate allows for magnificent walks in the hills and high mountains all year round. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities such as sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. On the Baldo peaks, you can ski with a view of the lake on 12 km of ski tracks of varying difficulty. A new snow park is an area to entertain also the little ones. For the more daring, there is the paragliding from the summit of Mount Baldo, an unforgettable experience.
