Territorial Museum of Lake Garda “Luigi Carlo Bertamè”

The Museum of Biodiversity and Fishing on Lake Garda

The Territorial Museum of Lake Garda was designed and created by Dr Luigi Bertamè following a long process of research and collection of pieces that found its crowning point on 7 May 2011, the day of the inauguration at the former Palazzetto delle Esposizioni in the courtyard of the Town Hall. In the building, there are many pieces that belong to the folklore of Garda and lead us back to the history and soul of its people. Since May 2017, the Territorial Museum of Lake Garda has enriched its collection by including a programme of studies on biodiversity in Val dei Molini, curated by the “Marie Curie” Higher Education Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Daniele Zanini.

On the second floor, there are spaces dedicated to fishing, the activity that for centuries has sustained the lives of the people of Garda and that even today makes Garda the town with the most professional fishermen on the lake.
